Michael Newman savages my former employer over a recent counterterrorism conference. I have no idea how many of the panel discussions Newman attended, and many of them were, after all, competing with Senate confirmation hearings for the Secretary of State, Secretary of Energy and so forth. But I imagine Steve Coll, Paul Pillar, Robert Pape and Bruce Schneier were worth hearing.
Honestly, though, what was Newman expecting? American foreign policy is made by two kinds of people: Republicans and Democrats. Libertarians have about as much say in it as members of the Natural Law Party.
