About the Role

The Tax Foundation’s Manager of Corporate Relations will be responsible for managing many of the day-to-day administrative, support, event, and project management tasks of the Corporate Relations team, along with handling a corporate donor portfolio of 40–50 companies. The position will report to the Senior Director of External Relations.

Primary Responsibilities

Donor and Prospect Communications and Relations

  • Responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a corporate donor portfolio of 40–50 companies
  • Lead the corporate relations team prospecting research efforts, ensuring that our corporate prospecting lists are kept updated on an annual basis
  • Help lead prospect calls to discuss their company’s tax policy priorities
  • Work with the Senior Director of External Relations to draft corporate project proposals for prospects & donors
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of External Relations and the policy teams to develop programs & strategies to recruit and retain donors
  • Maintain and update all corporate programs marketing materials as needed
  • Draft copy and send mass marketing email communications regarding our latest research via HubSpot to corporate donors and prospects

Utilities Management

  • Input corporate donor and prospect interactions in our CRM corporate accounts and regularly update corporate accounts with new contact information

Accounting and Operations Support

  • Work with the Manager of Development Operations to coordinate timely invoicing for corporate donors and sponsors
  • Work with new donors to onboard the Tax Foundation as a vendor in their accounts payable portals
  • Maintain accurate and updated information on corporate pledges and gifts in Salesforce CRM

Event Management

  • Oversee logistics for quarterly Federal Corporate Advisory Panel meetings
  • Draft invite language to be sent to corporate donors and prospects
  • Work with Manager of Development Operations on invitation logistics and tracking
  • Lead internal agenda setting meetings with Sr. Director of External Relations and appropriate policy team leads
  • Work with the Special Assistant to the CEO and Events Manager to ensure successful event logistics.

Tax Prom

  • Outreach to corporate prospects and lead meetings with prospects to discuss the value of their organization, sponsoring a table or purchasing tickets
  • Steward an existing set of annual sponsors through the sponsorship process
  • Work with in-kind sponsors to ensure in-kind gifts are secured and delivered on time 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or government relations (internships may be considered experience)
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and good judgment
  • Solution-oriented with the ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or government relations (internships may be considered experience)
  • Understanding of the corporate tax policy landscape
  • Ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion; work under pressure; handle confidential matters with discretion; and interface well with all departments of the organization and represent Tax Foundation in a highly professional manner
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and Hubspot 

Location and Hours

This is a full-time, exempt position with a standard work schedule of Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position is based in-office in Washington, DC. Tax Foundation staff are able to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Some local travel and extended hours will be required for key events

Compensation

The projected salary range for this role is $65,000-$85,000, contingent upon the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.
