Bill O’Reilly shows Erin Andrews video on Fox News
And he’s a bad person for doing it. Fanhouse has the details. O’Reilly and the Fox News Network should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.
For those of you unfamiliar with the story, Erin Andrews (a sideline reporter for ESPN who has become quite famous in the sports portion of the blogosphere for being both talented and attractive, a rare combo in the gig) was filmed, without her knowledge, walking around a hotel room in the nude. This video was uploaded to the Internet, where it smoldered in the backwaters for a couple of months until Deadspin got a hold of it and the story broke wide. Her lawyers threatened to sue everyone who had even seen it, the video went down, then hackers created programs tricking people into downloading a virus because they were looking for some poor woman who had been violated in a most egregious way.
And you know what? Good for the hackers. I won’t often say this, but I’m glad that people who took time out of their busy day to look at the blurry pictures of a woman who had been horribly wronged got screwed over. Look: If a celebrity makes a sex tape and it leaks out, sucks to be them, but they’re idiots. This is not that sort of case. This is criminal malfeasance and we as a society need to take a stand against it. I hope they catch the guy who did this and throw him in prison for a decade. He’s got it coming.
