Tour of Holocaust Memorial Center and Discussion

January 14, 2019 6:15 PM - 9:00 PM

Holocaust Memorial Center

In 2016, Jews were the most likely American group to be targeted in a hate crime. In 2017, hate crimes directed against Jews increased by another 37 percent.

No longer can we sit idly by as the same hatred that spawned the atrocities of the Holocaust becomes more commonplace.

In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, AF-Detroit will host an evening tour at the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills.

The Holocaust Memorial Center’s Zekelman Family Campus is an important bastion of remembrance when much of the world is beginning to forget the Holocaust. This mission is especially vital now, with anti-Semitism increasing in Canada, throughout Europe, and at home in America.

AF supports taking increased action against the rise of anti-Semitism. We can all do our part by speaking up when we hear real hate speech, condemning hate crimes, and renewing our dedication to our responsibility to “Never Forget” the Nazis’ 6 million Jewish victims, as well as the 5 million victims who belonged to other “undesirable” groups. To carry, and to pass on, that torch of remembrance is to ensure that we will not stand for future acts of genocide against a historically persecuted people.

We hope that you will join us as we inform ourselves and strengthen our desire to stand against intolerance and hate.

The format of this event will be different than those you have come to expect if you’re an AF-Detroit regular. We ask that anyone who wishes to attend please RSVP through Eventbrite by Sunday, January 7, so that we have an accurate head count for the museum.

We will meet in the lobby of the Holocaust Memorial Center at 6:15 pm to check in. Our tour will begin promptly at 6:30 pm and will conclude by 8:00pm. Afterwards, everyone is welcome to join us down the street at Craft Breww City for a drink and appetizers.
