Goldfarb, McCain, and the media
I’m glad Reihan penned a defense of my once and (probably) future colleague Michael Goldfarb and his hiring by the McCain campaign over at the Scene. Lefty reaction has been hyper and vitriolic, and the libertarian reaction has been annoying and longwinded.* Gee, a conservative politician would hire someone with knowledge of the conservative blogosphere and the conservative magazine industry to flack for him. Whodathunkit?
(My favorite part of this whole silly situation was the overreaction to my boss Bill Kristol’s joke about Goldfarb becoming the National Security Adviser in a McCain administration. How stupid do you have to be to not see that for what it is, a joke and not an actual recommendation that McCain make a 27 year old the NSA? Apparently, pretty GD stupid.)
*Goldfarb is 100% right about the Ron Paul people, by the way. Any coalition that contains that many anti-Semites and conspiracy theorists** is one I’d just as soon keep away from the GOP.
**Guilt by association is fun.
