Learn It, Live It, Love It: The Holiday Gift Guide Edition

By: Cindy Cerquitella

This final 2020 edition of Learn it, Live it, Love it is dedicated to the products and services that will make great holiday gifts. And the best part? They support free market causes along the way!

Learn it:
I’ve got five nieces and nephews, and as the amazing aunt I am, I like to get them something educational along with the fun items. These books are going to be a big hit!

1. AF’s very own Emily Mischler moonlights as a children’s book author, and her books, featuring Esme the Cat, who takes off on globe-trotting adventures, is the perfect way to remind kids about the world outside our door.

2. To quote  the illustrious Kathleen Kelly, “When you read a book as a child, it becomes a part of your identity in a way that no other reading in your whole life does.” So why not introduce kids to the principles of liberty and sound economics via The Tuttle Twins? This series of books, podcasts, and (coming soon cartoons!) introduces kids to how people and economies work, and could provide a helpful learning tool for kids still learning from home.

Live it:
The desire for freedom is something we live and breathe every day, so why not give gifts that will help your loved ones do the same?

1. Free the People, Feminists for Liberty, Future Female Leaders and Free Markets Destroy have some of the coolest swag shops out there.

2. If someone you know is interested in making freedom a full time gig, give them this book by Writing Fellows alum Conner Drigotas (and encourage them to sign up with Talent Market).

3. Give them a gift they can use all year long, one that enriches their lives and challenges their thinking. You really can’t do much better than gifting your friends an AF membership (get one for yourself while you’re at it!)

Love it:
If you want to give something a little more tangible, why not consider a growler from New Holland Brewing? You’ll be helping a small business that both is fighting for survival this year, and has been a generous host to AF’s Grand Rapids chapter. If you’re looking for wine instead, my favorite wine shop in DC ships all around the country.
