By: Cindy Cerquitella

Learn it:
You’ve likely seen #StopSARS across the internet this week, as thousands of Nigerians protest the end of a violent policing unit. The protests have turned violent, with government officials resorting to violence to control the crowds. To get more information about what’s happening in Nigeria, and the broader context, let’s go to the source. Olumayowa Okediran discusses the need to reinvent the countries governance structure in this TED talk.

Live it:
If you’ve been on the internet at all in the last several months, you know you’re job in  November, VOTE! But don’t just vote, vote smart, make sure you’re knowledgeable about who and what is on the ballot. Depending on where you live, this can be a daunting task, but AFF is here to make getting up to speed more fun, and more social. Check out this great Community Circle Conversation guide that will help you, and your friends learn more about what’s on your  ballot. Let us know if you host an event by posting pictures of your Community Circle gathering on FB or Insta with the hashtag “#AFFinAction” to enter a drawing for one of three $25 Amazon gift cards!

Looking for a new book to read, Pick up Believe in People, a  new book from Charles Koch and Brian Hooks, founders of Stand Together. This fall, Stand Together is donating $30 for every copy sold towards a nonprofit making a difference in their community! Support AFF by purchasing the book and then entering the code “AFF”.

Hannah Cox, former AFF-Nashville chapter leader, has become something of a freedom influencer in recent years. She’s taking that influencing to the next level with a new weekly  newsletter, The Cox Curation,  and forthcoming vodcast, Based. Her newsletter covers not just political hot takes, but music and beauty recommendations and Keto friendly recipes. Check it out, along with episode one of Based, which drops Monday.
