Mea culpa…

I wrote a few snarky things in this post (itself about the nature of snark) and the comments about Freddie that I probably shouldn’t have, and I apologize. I stand by the basic thrust of the post–that rhetoric on the ‘net is unnecessarily coarse, that Freddie’s description of McCain further lowers the tone, that amateur writers outnumber professional writers on the web and as a matter of course the amateurs tend to be coarser in tone, and that we, as a community, should work to avoid this sort of thing. As I mentioned in the post, I probably need to work on this as hard as anyone else.

Note to self: don’t post while the Super Bowl is on. You’ll only regret it later…
