It Is Our Responsibility to Preserve Our Republic
At America’s Future we believe in holding government accountable, limiting government, and empowering the people. The right to peaceably assemble is essential to a free nation and must be protected. Americans have the right to voice their opinions, but we do not have the right to violate the law and injure others in order to do so. We believe setting humans free leads to rich and flourishing nations. But we will not condone violence in pursuit of those ends. Persuasion, organization, and peaceful exchange can shift hearts and minds, and indeed, it is the only path to creating lasting change.
The events leading to, and on, January 6 are cause for anger and sadness, yes, but they are also cause for reflection. They remind each of us of our responsibility to preserve our republic. As we look at the path ahead, we must decide what we envision for our country. We must recommit to our values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We must hold those we have elected accountable to fiercely guard those values – and in the days ahead, this will be crucial. We must be ever-watchful of efforts to strip law-abiding Americans of their liberties. Most importantly, we must look within ourselves and commit to responsible, civil discourse, to opening our hearts and minds to our neighbors and new ideas. Only then can we rebuild trust in our fellow man and allow freedom to truly flourish.
