Nuclear sticker shock

The U.S. budget for nuclear programs shows misplaced priorities, colleagues say. We’re spending at least $52.4 billion a year on our nuclear budget, and only a tiny fraction of it goes to nonproliferation efforts that eliminate weapons and materials at their source, or preparing for the aftermath of a nuclear or radiological attack.
