On Fr. Neuhaus
I had been saddened to see over the Christmas break that Richard John Neuhaus, editor and founder of First Things, had taken seriously ill. Over at NRO K-Lo is reporting that things have taken a turn for the worse. She also quotes a passage from Father Neuhaus’s meditation on death and his own previous brush with it. It makes for quite a gripping read, like virtually every line of the last third of every issue of First Things—all of it written by Father Neuhaus. Do yourself a favor and check it out. And please pray for Father Neuhaus.
UPDATE: I missed the announcement of his death, which came shortly after I posted this. The Corner has all sorts of good tributes and rememberances up.
