"Pineapple Express"

Forgot to post my review of “Pineapple Express” yesterday. It’s kind of a weird movie, and my reaction to it was kind of weird as well…I didn’t love it as much as most of the other critics, and I didn’t hate it nearly as much as the critics who hated it. It was just kind of…blah.

That being said, there are some very funny bits in it. It’s a movie that’s going to be play very well with the late high school/college set, and not too many other people, I think.

Tangential question: how many underage patrons will buy tickets to another movie in order to see this one? When I saw “The Dark Knight” for the second time it was a mid-afternoon showing and there was a group of high schoolers on summer vacation in front of me. The first two bought tickets for the R-rated “Step Brothers,” and after being asked for ID, the third bought a ticket for “The Dark Knight.” I wonder how much teen-friendly R-rated fare helps out wide release PG-13 movies.
