The Pedestrian Meace strikes again
NFL wide receiver Donte Stallworth is going to be charged with manslaughter for killing a man after hitting him with his Bentley. You will hear all of these things in the next couple of weeks, and they are all true: Stallworth has a history of substance abuse, blew a .12 at the accident scene, and callously said he “flashed his lights” at the guy as he was crossing the street. What I predict you won’t hear (and if you do, it will certainly be downplayed) is that the victim was jaywalking, crossing the street illegally and outside of a crosswalk, thereby causing a hazard to himself and all the drivers on the road.
Perhaps I’m the callous one … but you know what? Maybe if the victim had crossed the street legally, he’d still be alive. Pay attention, pedestrians. You don’t own the road. Cars do.
