Atlanta Event – “Great Myths of the Great Depression” with Lawrence W.

Join the Atlanta chapter of America’s Future Foundation for an evening with Lawrence W. Reed, President of the Foundation for Economic Education, on Thursday, July 26th.

A cocktail hour, including complimentary drinks and appetizers, will begin at 6:00pm followed by a talk by Mr. Reed on the “Great Myths of the Great Depression.” We will then join in a roundtable discussion about the similarities between what happened during the Great Depression and what is happening today.

Today, we are often given a skewed account of the Great Depression of 1929-1941 that condemns free-market capitalism as the cause of, and promotes government intervention as the solution to, the economic hardships of the era. Lawrence W. Reed debunks the conventional view and traces the central role that poor government policy played in fostering this legendary catastrophe.

Lawrence W. (“Larry”) Reed became president of FEE in 2008. Prior to that, he was a founder and president for twenty years of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy in Midland, Michigan. He also taught Economics full-time and chaired the Department of Economics at Northwood University in Michigan from 1977 to 1984.
