AF Around the Country – Flagship Events
This month, we’ve been highlighting the work our chapters have been doing all around the country. In our final installment, we’re highlighting some of our major flagship events of 2018.
Welcome to Washington
DC can be an intimidating place, especially for those just starting out their careers. To make the transition a little easier, AF hosts regular Welcome to Washington events, giving new arrivals the chance to network and build connections with one another while hearing from young professionals who have managed to adapt and thrive in the District. Throughout this year, we partnered with the American Enterprise Institute, the Charles Koch Institute, the Heritage Foundation, the Hillsdale College Kirby Center, and the Leadership Institute to welcome 382 people to Washington across events in spring, summer, and fall.
Reaganpalooza
AF capped off this year’s CPAC with the 14th Reaganpalooza, our annual afterparty that gave 413 like-minded attendees the chance to connect with one another and celebrate the liberty movement and the legacy of President Reagan.
The AF Annual Gala
This year, AF held its biggest, most exciting gala yet at the Nationals Park in DC. In addition to the opportunity to relax with fellow liberty-lovers, 264 attendees got to see a unique view from the park’s Diamond Club and even venture down to the field itself for games of giant jenga.
The Buckley Awards
Every year, we recognize the work of some of the most talent and effective young leaders of the free market movement. At this year’s 9th annual Buckley Awards, a crowd of 217 recognized the work of Ericka Andersen, Rob Bluey, Christina Sandefur, and Carrie Sheffield, who have lead significant grassroots initiatives, impacted the national debate of important issues, and used their voices to advance the principles of liberty in our culture.
A very special thank you to this year’s Premier Sponsors, whose supports helped make these events so successful: The Heritage Foundation Young Leaders Program, DonorsTrust (Novus Society), Charles Koch Institute, Young Voices, American Enterprise Institute, Students for Liberty, Hillsdale College Kirby Center and Chaz Cirame.
2018 was a year for the record books, and we can’t wait to share our plans for Flagship events in 2019; stay tuned!
