Chutzpah

By: David Polansky

The old definition is the parricide throwing himself on the mercy of the court as an orphan. The new definition is the Weekly Standard publishing a cover article with Alexis de Tocqueville’s byline.

The piece is entitled "Barack Obama’s America ," and the cover shot imaginatively portrays a flock of sheep. It features a collection of Tocqueville’s meditations on one of his central themes: the degeneration of democracy into despotism.

Funny how the wisdom of the great political thinkers really kicks in once a Democrat takes office, eh?
