About the Role

The Leadership Institute is searching for an organized, detail-oriented, and project management-focused Donor Relations Manager to support the Vice President for Growth by efficiently managing the day-to-day operations of his donor caseload and organizing his agenda. The Manager will work closely with the Vice President for Growth and his Chief of Staff to draft donor-facing communication on behalf of the Vice President, manage department scheduling, and prioritize communication.The ideal candidate will have the ability to write compelling follow-up messaging to top-level donors on behalf of the senior-level fundraising executive, take meticulous notes on daily communication, and prioritize requests from ten Directors.

This role reports to the Chief of Staff and is based full-time in the Leadership Institute headquarters in Arlington, VA.  The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Vice President for Growth on his caseload of work, ensuring that all of his donors receive timely follow-ups and appropriate programmatic updates
  • Support the Vice President as he works with his caseload of donors by handling all Major Gift correspondence and donor files, including executing personalized messaging at the direction of the Vice President
  • Take notes during meetings between donors and the Vice President and draft follow-up communications, including thank you notes, meeting memos, and donor letters in accordance with organization standards
  • Maintain individual donor files in the database for fundraisers recording touches, moves, interactions, asks, etc.
  • Meet with the Vice President regularly to discuss requests, review the daily agenda, and troubleshoot any potential scheduling conflicts.  Keep the Vice President on schedule during the day and effectively communicate agenda changes to relevant staff
  • Manage the schedules of the Vice President including meetings, events, conferences, travel planning, interviews, and appearances
  • Work closely with the Chief of Staff to draft agendas, manage delegated task follow-up, and collect information from ten department divisions to ensure weekly updates are delivered on time
  • Conduct research on donors and other areas needed

Requirements

  • 4+ years’ experience in administration, operations, donor research, customer success, marketing, or fundraising
  • Demonstrated record of handling calls, correspondence, and internal operations with a high degree of excellence and confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to write compelling customer or donor communications preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and personal management skills. Must have initiative and have the ability to follow through with remote direct supervision
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines. 
  • Commitment to and passion for free market principles
  • CRM experience, such as Salesforce, is preferred but not required
  • Ability to travel up to 10% preferred
