Meet Jessica Darby – Our New AF-Nashville Chapter Leader!
Meet our new AF-Nashville Chapter Leader, Jessica Darby! Before beginning her career in campaign finance compliance, Jessica left her job as a corporate trainer for Chick-Fil-A to work on Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s first campaign and subsequent inauguration. After having been educated in a combination of private, virtual and homeschool settings, she attended Impact 360 Institute in Georgia.
In 2016, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Spanish from the University of Memphis, where she co-founded Powered by Education, a non-profit that serves to educate families on all the educational options available in their state and supports them as they take action. She currently resides in Nashville and Memphis and enjoys hot yoga, biohacking, CrossFit, traveling and Formula 1.
Learn more about Jessica below!
1. Why did you decide to work with America’s Future?
I think the key to change in one’s community is at the local level. I don’t think many are focused on what we should be doing to cultivate freer cities and communities, so I’m excited to be a part of this movement in Nashville.
2. Career advice in three words?
Do not fear.
3. Define leadership in one sentence
I think Ronald Reagan said it best, “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.”
4. What books/magazines are you currently reading? Any podcasts?
Podcast: I love podcasts! Here are my top four: The Toast – Jackie and Claudia Oshry, How I Built This – Guy Raz, The Joe Rogan Experience and The Spillover – Alex Clark
Book: Switching back and forth between: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen and The Lady’s Mine by Francine Rivers
5. What do you wish you could go back and tell yourself at the beginning of your career?
Stick to your guns, don’t back down, and don’t operate out of fear. Be confident in everything you do!
6. What’s your morning routine?
It starts with early morning hot yoga, then I listen to 25-30 min of Jordan Peterson’s Exodus series while I get ready, drink a cup of joe with breakfast, and then head to the office.
