Tolerance on the left for free speech, cont.

Nikki Finke reports on a controversy brewing over at one of the Hollywood talent agencies over a piece of art. A few minority staff members demanded it be taken down because it was offensive. This is what one of them told Nikkie:

But despite the agency’s affirmations that the artwork was not racist, the protesting staffers still said it made them uncomfortable. “I understand that some things are more offensive to others. However, if an image is offensive to anyone, in my opinion, it should be removed. Especially when there is an underlying tension felt by a minority group,” one of the African American staffers inside UTA emailed me. [Emp. mine]

Let’s just read that highlighted passage again: “if an image is offensive to anyone, in my opinion, it should be removed.” Wow. Real defenders of freedom of speech out there in Hollywood, aren’t they? Gotta love censorship…
